Video Processing Card - 3Gbits/s capable

 

Our client, a key provider of broadcast products, required a card compatible with their modular racking system, to process up to three channels of SDI, HDSDI and 3Gbits/s video. Working from a high level functional specification, InSync Technology created a detailed implementation specification while suggesting feature additions to improve the overall product performance. As part of the specification we included integration of the control of this module with the client’s proprietary networked control system. In addition, the hardware design used components from the client’s approved list.

Reference Card Design - HDSDI and 3Gbits/s

 

Gennum Corporation required a reference design to demonstrate their transport and clock generation in both HD and 3Gbit/s environments. The design was based around an Altera Stratix2GX FPGA with Gennum providing all the interface chips including optical SFP modules, a GS4911 genlock and a GS4915 clock cleaner. A key requirement was meeting critical return loss and jitter specification and this was met with margin to spare. The card was initially developed as a dual link to 3Gbits/s (SMPTE 424M with SMPTE425M level A & B mapping) and vice versa interface.  However, InSync Technology have since added a 1080P test source and CRC checker application.

 

 

 

 

Special Function Synchroniser

 

Front Porch Digital provide high quality ingest solutions and required a frame synchroniser which could also gather extensive metadata in real time to determine the quality of the ingested material. InSync Technology successfully adapted its well established broadcast synchroniser to provide the necessary metadata as well as RF drop-out compensation and other enhancements needed to capture material from degraded tape sources.
