Standards Conversion

The InSync Technology engineering team has extensive experience of designing commercially successful video standards converters. The core team has designed some of the highest quality and best selling video converters in the world.  Their first broadcast standards converter (PAL <> NTSC) was released in 1990. Over the years we have improved our underlying standards conversion techniques as technological advances have allowed, including the incorporation of greater algorithm complexity, motion compensation and many extra features.

Shown opposite are two examples of InSync Technology’s standards conversion technology. These are built on platforms that have permitted customisation to individual client specification. The intellectual property within these products is owned by InSync Technology and is available for use in designs we undertake for new and existing clients.

High Definition Standards Conversion

The latest InSync Technology

standards conversion platform

incorporates advanced motion

compensation intellectual property

to give exceptional quality for

de-interlacing and frame rate conversion.

Key features of this platform include...

  • Interfaces at SDI, HDSDI (1.5Gbits/s) and 3Gbits/s
  • Full 1080P/60 operation possible
  • Plug-in expansion cards allowing for a full range of audio interfaces and extra processing power

Standard Definition Conversion

The InSync Technology conversion product released in 2005 has now achieved over 1000 sales. It is a multi-standard broadcast quality platform with synchronisation and timebase stabilisation with SDI, analogue component, composite and YC interfaces. The standards conversion between 525 and 625 line standards (NTSC/PAL) employs a powerful 20-point, 4-field, 5-line interpolation aperture to give smooth motion and maximum vertical resolution.

Key features of this platform include...

  • Advanced 20-point vertical-temporal aperture for standards conversion
  • Synchronisation & timebase stabilisation
  • SDI interfaces with 10-bit processing
  • 12-bit decoding with 5-line comb filter
  • 12-bit encoding
