Production manager

Petersfield, Hampshire, UK

InSync Technology is a successful, mature company offering hardware and software products to the professional broadcast industry. Our products are designed, developed and manufactured from our offices in Petersfield, UK. InSync is looking towards exciting growth plans over the next few years and we’re seeking a part-time production manager to help deliver quality products to our global customer base. We’re seeking a reliable person, preferably with hands-on experience of high-tech professional hardware products.

Role objectives and duties

The Production Manager is responsible for manufacturing and delivering quality products to InSync’s global customers. This is a part-time role of ca. 15 hours per week.

Duties include:

  • Overseeing manufacturing and production processes such that customer required delivery dates are met
  • Management of customer support system, customer returns, and customer satisfaction
  • Management of production subcontractors
  • Creating and executing daily, weekly, monthly and annual production schedules
  • Procurement of manufacturing components and management of stock
  • Procuring factory production and test equipment and taking responsibility for its maintenance and certification
  • Sales order processing
  • Striving to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines
  • Maintaining hygienic conditions for both employees and the factory itself
  • Implementing all the company’s procedures and policies
  • Communicating any problems or obstacles to senior management
  • Monitoring productivity rates, standards and quality control
  • Training and coaching Factory Operators
  • Implementing safety, health, environment and quality requirements
  • Delivering on InSync’s sustainability goals and seeking new opportunities to improve sustainability

 

Required skills and experience

The postholder must have demonstrable experience in managing production of technology hardware products, including:

  • Manufacture of professional, high-end technology products
  • ERP system operation and management
  • Business process operation and implementation
  • Component selection and procurement
  • Supply chain management
  • Managing skilled staff in production
  • Management of subcontractors
  • Managing third party certification requirements
  • Ability to succinctly present performance metrics
  • Excellent stakeholder management
  • Good, positive communication skills including the ability to interact with colleagues and suppliers
  • Good organisational and planning skills, and attention to detail
  • High level of ability in verbal and written communication in English
  • GCSE or higher Maths and English qualification
  • MS Office

 

Preferred experience and qualifications

  • Engineering or production qualification – HND or above
  • Health and Safety, ISO experience or qualifications
  • Knowledge of broadcast engineering

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

InSync Technology design, manufacture and produce world-class broadcast video conversion solutions, in hardware, software and in the cloud; any sport or other live TV that’s originated from overseas has likely been processed by our technology.

Role

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated senior software engineer to join our embedded software team, contributing to the development of sophisticated video and audio processing solutions. Integral to the role is attention to both the planning and testing process, such that the development can be optimised without any degradation in product quality or reliability. Reporting to the product leader, you will apply and improve youressential skills developing the new range of cutting-edge standards conversion hardware products, packed with more capabilities than ever before. You will also offer your expertise in supporting the existing range of industry-leading hardware products. You will expand your knowledge and skills through increased engagement with the full product life cycle. You will also receive the support and guidance of a team of experienced engineers, with a focus on collaborative working. Finally, as a dedicated team player, you will have the opportunity to share knowledge and mentor others.

Essential Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Python, Bash and C/C++ demonstrated in a formal development process
  • Fluency with Subversion and Git
  • Linux experience
  • Skills and experience in problem solving, debugging, testing and validation
  • Familiarity with a number of IP network protocols, network debugging techniques and relevant application layer development
  • Ability to take a feature requirement from conception through design and implementation to testing, with minimal guidance and supervision
  • Ability to contribute meaningfully to code reviews and mentor colleagues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desirable Skills

  • Bare metal development (CPU bring-up, boot loader development etc.)
  • Linux driver development
  • Experience building Linux distributions using Yocto Project
  • Experience using GUI toolkits (GTK, Qt etc.)
  • Experience developing functional web pages using HTML/CSS and minimal JavaScript
  • Broadcasting knowledge
  • SMPTE 2110 knowledge
  • NMOS knowledge
